Airlines From North America's east coast, you can be in Bermuda in less than two hours. If you're coming from the United Kingdom, it'll take about seven hours from London. Bermuda is serviced by Continental Airlines (800-231-0856), American Airlines (800-433-7300), Delta Air Lines (800-221-1212), US Airways (800-428-4322), Air Canada (800-776-3000), United (1-800-241-6522), USA 3000 (877-872-3000) and British Airways (0181/897-4000; 0345/222-111 outside London).
Planes arrive at the Bermuda International Airport, St. George's. After clearing Immigration and Customs, you can pick up tourist information at the airport's Visitor's service desk before heading to your hotel. Ample taxis are available at the airport to transport you to your hotel. Arrangements can also be made in advance with airport coaches (25- and 26-seat vans). Visitors are not allowed to rent automobiles in Bermuda.
Passenger Tax All persons (visitors and residents alike) are taxable under The Miscellaneous Taxes Act, 1976. For air passengers: $25, included with the airfare and collected in advance along with the ticket. Those in direct transit and children under two years are exempt. For ship passengers: $60, collected in advance by the steam ship company. Children under two years are exempt.
Transfers Taxis are readily available at the airport. The approximate fare (not including tip) to Hamilton is $20; to St. George's, $10; to South Shore hotels, $25; and to the West End (Dockyard), $38. A surcharge of 25¢ is added for each piece of luggage stored in the trunk or on the roof. Fares are 25% higher between midnight and 6 am, and all day on Sunday and on public holidays. Depending on traffic, the driving time to Hamilton is about 30 minutes; it's about one hour to the West End.
